Examples of Aviation Models

QueenBee | F/A-18E, F/A-18F, and EA-18G

The QueenBee model is designed to capture a detailed representation of the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G fleets and their sustainment system, assisting the PMA-265 in achieving readiness outcomes. The model includes NIINHOF-level metrics calculated from raw Navy maintenance and supply data, a detailed Organization-Intermediate-Depot (O-I-D) supply system, and explicit modeling of weapons replaceable assemblies (WRAs) and shop replaceable assemblies (SRAs). It is IDA’s first and most mature naval aviation sustainment model.

Pegasus | P-8A

The Pegasus model is designed to capture a detailed representation of the P-8A fleet and its sustainment system, assisting the PMA-290 in achieving readiness outcomes. The model includes NIINHOF-level metrics calculated from raw Navy maintenance and supply data, a detailed Organization-Intermediate-Depot (O-I-D) supply system, and explicit modeling of weapons replaceable assemblies (WRAs) and shop replaceable assemblies (SRAs).

LakeBird | MH-60R, and MH-60S

The LakeBird model is designed to capture a detailed representation of the MH-60S and MH-60R fleets and their sustainment system, assisting the PMA-299 in achieving readiness outcomes. The model includes NIINHOF-level metrics calculated from raw Navy maintenance and supply data, a detailed Organization-Intermediate-Depot (O-I-D) supply system, and explicit modeling of weapons replaceable assemblies (WRAs) and shop replaceable assemblies (SRAs).

SeaEagle | Air Force Model Pre-processor

The SeaEagle model is designed to capture a detailed representation of the E-2/C-2 fleet and its sustainment system, assisting the PMA-231 in achieving readiness outcomes. While the primary purpose of the model is to study the E-2D and E-2C platforms, components are shared between the C-2A platform as well. As the E-2/C-2 fleet is undergoing large changes, SeaEagle explicitly models the squadron transitions from E-2C to E-2D and the retirement of C-2As from their primary carrier on-board delivery role, based on information provided by the program office.

Chimera | CV-22B, MV-22B and CMV-22B

The Chimera model is a joint model that is designed to capture a detailed representation of the CV-22B, MV-22B, and CMV-22B fleets. It uniquely combines information from Air Force and Navy data sources in order to effectively capture the effects of parts sharing between the services on the whole V-22 sustainment system. The model includes NIINHOF-level metrics calculated from raw Navy maintenance and supply data, a detailed Organization-Intermediate-Depot (O-I-D) supply system, and explicit modeling of weapons replaceable assemblies (WRAs) and shop replaceable assemblies (SRAs).

And More | [Navy/Marines] C-130, H-53, H-1; [Air Force] C-5

The IDA Sustainment team is continuing to expand its aviation models in support of our sponsors. In addition to our mature aviation models, there are several multi-platform representative models in development: The Navy and Marine fleet of C-130J, C-130T, KC-130T and KC-130J (hydra), the Marine fleet of MH-53E, CH-53E, and CH-53K (seaHorse), the Marine fleet of AH-1Z and UH-1Y (kraken), and the Air Force C-5 fleet.
