This presentation provides an overview of the main considerations for scoring underwater demonstrations of novel sensors and software for detecting and classifying Unexploded Ordnance (UXO). IDA designed and implemented the scoring process for land-based demonstrations of these novel systems that were conducted from 2007 to 2017. Some of the lessons learned from the land-based demonstrations can be leveraged in the underwater demonstrations. In other cases, new solutions must be found, due to the added logistical, engineering, and safety challenges of the underwater environment.
