This IDA Research Summary describes IDA’s efforts to quantify the causal relationship between maintenance military technician (MilTech) investments and helicopter readiness in the U.S. Army National Guard. IDA found that increasing the number of MilTech mechanics at Army Aviation Support Facilities of all sizes results in meaningful reductions in maintenance time for UH-60 Black Hawk and HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters.
