Internships and Fellowships

Partnering with top-ranked universities and higher education institutions, our goal in creating the IDA’s Campus Partner Program was to build a strong on-campus presence and continuing partnership with a select number of schools. We focus on developing strong relationships within each academic institution that relates to IDA’s research areas and allows IDA the opportunity to directly recruit those students who have the skills IDA most desires.

Through IDA’s competitive internship and fellowship programs, rising undergraduate seniors and current graduate students can explore the world of research in support of critical national security issues. Our programs offer students hands-on technical experience under the guidance of senior research staff and mentors. Whether working on a stand-alone project or part a larger project, students engage in multiple stages of the analytic process, from framing an issue to communicating results.

IDA takes the time to screen our internship and fellowship candidates carefully, looking for those who are likely to make a valuable contribution over the course of the program. Our goal is to have the participating students make the most of their experience at IDA as they transition to pursing higher education and eventually, back at IDA into the national security workforce.

Hear first-hand from several summer associates about their experiences and the work they were involved with at IDA.
