Position:  Information Integration Analyst II
Description

The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Department of Homeland Security, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.

The incumbent, under direct supervision, assists in planning, developing, and coordinating major information provision projects requiring complex features and procedures that often involve different data and information collections and resources.  Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, implements and documents new application, delivery, and information management systems; modifies and enhances existing programs and systems; and provides operational support.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Works with Directorate and other staff to identify and document the need for development, conversion or modification of information provision tools, systems, platforms, and enterprise search tools to make best use and deployment of information resources occurring in a variety of formats and locations.  With assistance, develops effective approaches and proposes cost effective solutions.
  • Analyzes data and information linkage among IDA information provision systems and enterprise search tools under the guidance of a project leader.  Working from documented requirements, prepares taxonomy and design specifications; participates in design reviews; troubleshoots and corrects data linkage problems; performs comprehensive testing; and prepares and maintains technical and user documentation.  Such information provision tools, systems and platforms are of limited complexity and frequently involve designs that call upon a limited range of computing skills.
  • With the guidance of a project manager, maintains acquired systems and tools which have few support or interface requirements to be met by IDA.  Acts as liaison between users and vendors for the installation and maintenance of new software releases and modifications or information downloads.  Assists vendors in identifying and isolating problems, and installs and tests vendor updates and fixes.  Builds custom interfaces, if required, to provide or establish linkage with other IDA data and information resources or systems.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
Requirements
  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Library Science, Information Science or related area; or equivalent experience.
  • One or more years of related work experience.
  • Experience with computers running MS Windows 2000/2003/XP/Vista.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
